63rd Street Beach Drummers (Chicago)
For over 50 years, The Original 64th Street Beach Drummers have served as the rhythmic heartbeat of Chicago’s South Side, using the power of the drum to foster restorative justice, community peace, and cultural preservation. Despite their legendary status, the organization lacked a unified digital platform to support their transition into a formal 501(c)(3) nonprofit entity. TopOut Group was tasked with distilling decades of oral history and grassroots activism into a high-performance, donor-centric web experience. By modernizing their digital identity, we helped transform a local tradition into a global resource for music therapy and community healing, ensuring their message of peace resonates far beyond the lakefront.
The Challenge
As a decades-old Chicago staple, the Drummers needed to transition from an informal collective to a structured 501(c)(3) non-profit. The digital challenge was organizing their diverse programs—ranging from restorative justice and music therapy to live event entertainment—into a cohesive, donor-friendly platform.
- Formalizing the 501(c)(3) identity for grant and donation eligibility.Creating a central hub for multiple community programs like "Peace Drum Circles" and "Smiling Faces."Capturing the high-energy, auditory experience of live drumming in a visual, static medium.
The Solution
A digital stage for restorative community art
We built a WordPress-driven resource center that prioritizes the organization’s mission of peace. By implementing a dedicated donation portal and structured program tiers, we turned a cultural archive into a functional fundraising tool.
- Donation Integration: Seamless tiered donation buttons to support music therapy and youth programs.Rich Media Archiving: Integrated YouTube and video galleries to showcase the "Peace Drum Circle" in action.Service Segmentation: Clearly defined paths for booking entertainment, drum lessons, and restorative workshops.
Drumming brings command, and it also brings calm. Our digital presence now reflects that same balance, helping us reach new neighborhoods and spread our message of peace across the city.
